Welcome to Wind Power UK

Wind Power UK is a company dedicated to helping the environment by using wind and solar power to reduce emissions into the atmosphere from conventional power stations. You can help by using wind turbines or solar panels at home with either a battery storage system or a grid connect inverter. Please browse our products pages to find out more about our wind turbine and solar hot water kits.

Practical Renewable Energy

Choosing and implementing your own renewable energy system can seem pretty daunting. You will probably have many questions such as:
What size turbine would I need?
Would a turbine be cost effective?
Where would be the best place to situate the turbine?
Is a wind turbine the best renewable energy source for me?

To help you make informed decisions about your renewable energy choice, we have two FAQ sections, wind FAQs and solar FAQs. These answer all the questions above, plus many more you may have. If your question is still not fully answered, please don't hesitate to e-mail or call to speak to one of our advisers.

BUSINESS CUSTOMERS: Please note you may be eligible for a 0% carbon trust loan, should you decide to purchase a renewable energy source. For more information please CLICK HERE.

New Product: We now sell 'The Power Predictor'. This product is an anemometer with a data logger that can be used to collect wind speed and direction data, it includes a solar radiation sensor, wind direction vane, and wind speed measuring anemometer. This is connected via a rugged 5 metre cable to a self-contained waterproof recorder unit with LCD (display) which when powered by a 9 Volt battery will provide up to one year of continuous monitoring. We believe that before spending a lot of money installing a PV solar or wind turbine generating system, it is vital to survey the planned site to ensure that the prevailing weather conditions are suitable, 'The Power Predictor' enables you to do this.

To assist you in making your choice regarding whether a wind turbine is suitable for your home and what size would be best, we now sell a Wireless Weather Station which measures wind speed and direction, and an Efergy Power Meter, which tells you how much energy you use. These will help you choose the correct size turbine and the best site for it to be installed.

Always bear in mind that renewable energy is generally unreliable by its nature. Therefore, although it may be relatively easy to produce a system that will provide 50% of your power for home use, it will be much more difficult to produce a system that will provide 75-100% of your power. If you want to produce almost all of your power by renewable means it often requires a large investment, however you will save money in the long term, with the added bonus of helping the environment.

WindPowerUK can also provide you with ground and air source heat pumps, photovoltaic solar panels and water turbines. All four of these renewable sources will need to be installed by a professional, however we can provide the kits at very competitive prices. Please e-mail for details.
